I don't know if it was needed for the ultramag, but the slow powder end of the spectrum is the only place I can see where there is room for more powders to fill a gap in burning rate. RL25 is about the best of the slower burning powders I've found. I never liked H870 because it's hard to light and it fouls so much, it's a very old powder and after I burned the first pound of it I never used any again. H1000 is too fast burning for optimum performance from rounds like the 7mm stw and .257 weatherby. I know a lot of folks like it for the stw but I never could get any decent velocity out of the 7mm stw with H1000. Mine liked RL25 a lot better.
In other words, I'm glad to hear they're coming out with another slow burning powder, there's not a large enough variety in that range.
