arthurp,

I don't know if any of your post was directed towards me (nor do I care) but I will respond by saying that I don't advocate not shooting at all but shooting all year certainly isn't necessary. The guy that I mentioned hardly shoots at all and RARELY makes a bad shot. You seem to me to be more of an archer than hunter. I see you tout, quite often, your shooting abilities but I never recall you recapping your hunting successes. I don't have an issue with it, it just seems to me like you approach things from an archer's standpoint that occaisionally hunts. I think people need to practice as much as it takes for them to responsibly take game and they need to know their limitations, however, that is a different amount for everyone. I typically practice for 3-4 months before season rolls around but that doesn't mean that I am more ethical than the guy that I mentioned. That guy is money in the bank when it comes to killing deer. I would put him up against anyone that I know when it comes to deer shot at to deer recovered (and he actually shoots at them). He's a naturally good shooter and he just doesn't take bad shots and he just doesn't miss. I certainly don't advocate that people not practice (nor do I believe does anyone else in here) however, I also think it's rediculous to say that people are unethical if they don't practice all year long
