Default scattering birds at night, does it work for henned up toms?

I read that scattering birds on the roost at night is a good way to get a tom to come at you at sunrise if it has been henned up. I am hunting some majorly henned up toms and i saw this in the forum: to go with a flashlight after dark and wave and yell under the tree to scare them off the roost...it will break them up and then the toms will look for the hens in the morning and are more likely to come to you call. Doesn't seem like the most ethical way to do things...but has anyone tried it? I might give it a try on closing weekend if I dont get one by then. Thanks
