7600 to the range again
I wonder why I ever strayed from the first 7600 Remington pump that I owned. This is the fourth one I have had. One in 270 which was the best out of the box rifle I ever owned shooting one inch or less groups at 200 yards. This one is a 30-06 and is starting to perform really well. I have shot about ten three shot groups from it so far. The worse group I have printed at 100 yards was 1 3/4 inches with factory WW PP bullets. That was its first three shots. Next was a group with PMC ammo which printed just under 1 1/2 inch. After running about 50 rounds of Nosler BT's through it I was printing 1 1/4 inch groups. Today with Sierra 150 grain pro-hunter bullets and 1/2 grain under max with 4350 IMR it is printing three shot groups from .75 to .90 inch groups These are all 100 yard groups as I have not had a day with less that 15-20 MPH winds to work with. As I have said these Remington pumps will shoot with most bolt guns from the box. The strange thing with this one is that the trigger is fantastic. This with no work at all on the trigger pull. I have been impressed with the 6X40 Simmons Pro-Hunter scope as well. Its very clear and works really well against the sun late in the day. At nearly dark you can still pick up animals pretty easy as I was watching some whitetail through it this evening just before dark. I had read some good reports on the straight power Pro-hunter Simmons scopes. I think I agree although only time will tell and it pretty early yet. Right now though, I love the combo. My loads just clocked about 2815 which is not really a screaming load but the ability to place it within an inch of my aiming point makes up for the small lack of velocity.
