Personally, I would hate to see the level removed as I believe it is needed in many cases to make consistant and accurate shots especially on uneven terrain or 'less than perfect' situations. If you cannot find a red-level then may I suggest throwing some car polish or something on top of it. Apply it but don't wipe it off. The film left should get rid of the glare and yet you should still be able to use the bubble. Only problem is that if it does get wiped off then you are going to have an even more reflective surface...
