Default RE: Ruger Vs. Remington

If you are strictly talking about buying a new rifle, I would buy the Ruger. I have always been a loyal Remington fan. The only other rifle brand I have bought was a Browning. I have received as gifts a Howa & a Winchester. The last two new Remington's I bought were mistakes. I bought them both on the same day. I did not check the fit and finish as I just saw the model I wanted and chose the caliber. Both of the rifles had tooling marks on them that were very apparent once I disassembled the rifles. One is a Model 700 Stainless Classic and the other a Model 700 ADL. Both rifles also had the recoil lug cocked off to one side. Neither rifle shot well until I had the recoil lugs centered and bedded and free floated the barrels. Several of my friends have purchased Ruger's because of the price compared to the Remington BDL's. Of the three recent buyings all bought 25-06's and they are all great shooters. My only knock on the Ruger is the trigger is non-adjustable. If you buy the Ruger I would have a gunsmith install an after market adjustable trigger. I believe this is the most important starting point for an accurate rifle. My friends all bought after market triggers. I believe they were all Timney's.
