Try to get out there a couple hours before sunrise and hike at least 1 mile away from all roads. That will cut out 95% of the hunters out there. If you do come across another hunter realize s/he is just as dedicated as you and most likely a pretty good person and you can usually go opposite ways and find plenty of space.
Or, just wait a few weeks. Most people either tag out early or give up if they don't get one the first or second weekend. The birds will be much wiser then so take it slow and easy and try really hard to go out the night before to roost some birds so you know where to go the next morning.
