I can barely tell the difference in recoil myself. I went with the 30.06 cuz of the range of bullets you can get. 150 gr for deer, and bigger for any other game out there. It's quite handy to have a rifle with that range. (i don't reload, so it's factory ammo for me).

I would say both are good however for about 90% of anything you hunt. The 30.06 will have slighty more energy.. go to federals website and look up the ballistics of each.
