oldelkhunter, my .300 Wby is stainless with a wood stock. The 7mm is blued with wood stock. I really like the look of the stainless/wood combination. Both rifles, which I have bedded, are legitimate 1/2 to 3/4" shooters with my reloads.

The Conetrols did lower the scope by at least 1/8". In fact, the Conetrols are mediums, whereas the Optilocks that this scope used to be in where lows. I like the Conetrols a lot, but they are a real PITA to mount a scope in. If the Optilocks were a little lower and had Torx ring screws I'd prefer them because of the polymer insert which eliminates scope alignment and ring mark problems. Eye relief is fine with both rifles, no complaints there.
