Very good point! That was actually one of the first things I thought about....I recently put a VX-II on a 7 Mag for that reason. Don't really expect too much recoil from the 270 wsm but not sure....never shot one. I have a tendency to switch out scopes on various rifles...I have more rifles than scopes. So, this scope could end up on a 300 Win Mag in the near future. That's something to think about....
