If you are positive that the guy next to you at the range used a (5) in his description size for the ball you need in your 50 cal rifle, you may have misunderstood him. I will bet he said .495 ball.. not .475. Nobody I know makes a .475 roundball.

You never did say what rifle you are shootin & how old it is. Unless the bore is oversize (or) the rifle is old, you may not need a .495 ball. Most shooters buy .490 balls for their 50 cals... then play around with different patch thickness.. different patch materials. Anyways... Here's a place with the best roundball prices. It looks like the .495 Hornadys are out of stock, but the Speer brand is good also.

There's no need for me to find a store for the .490s... should you decide to buy those. You can find the 490s in any hunting/gun store. If you buy store-bought patches, buy the pre-lubed pillow-ticking patches between .015-.020 for the 490s.... .010 for the 495s.
