My understanding the Fireproofing in safes is nothing more then Gypsum board or sheet rock.When I was a sprinkler fitter a fire wall was nothing more then a few layers of sheet rock.I haven't done it yet but my plans are sometime in the near future build a double or triple wall of sheet rock around my safe.Using the metal studs attaching the sheet rock to it.I don't think it will be to hard a job and the added protection will be well worth the trouble of building it.When these safe manufacturers say fireproof it's very misleading. They are fire resistant but by no means fireproof.Anything will burn if it gets hot enough.
