I am from the NW corner of the state, minus the panhandle. North of Enid, OK and almost in KS...Bobwhite and Coyote country.
We hunted Turkey there too, but never made much fuss over it. They were a bunch of dumb, sheltered Rio Grande's that would walk up within 20 yards of even an unskilled caller with a simple homemade diaphragm. One or two quick shots of 12GA #2 shot, and it was over for Mr. Tom...and for turkey season, as the bag limit was one per season (Fall and Spring seasons). My Dad told me my turkey call sounded like someone was castrating a coyote with a spoon, but they still came to me!
I'll be around a while...working on filling up the gun safe again and having some fun shooting! Been going out to Clark Rifles here in Vancouver a bit lately, and a couple buddies from work bought .17HMR's to play with along with the .22's. Good cheap fun that!
