Not long before I decided to go back to fingers, I got a TruBall T-handle style release with a thumb trigger. It's their cheapie model, but it seems to work better for me than index finger releases ever did. I ever decide to use a release again it will be a T-handle. They're a lot more handy and compact than wrist strap releases.
Besides, I never did get all that comfortable with wrist strap releases and always felt like I was handcuffed to the bow. With the T-handle, I just turn loose of the release and let it dangle while I scratch an itch, move a twig or swat a mosquito away from my ear.
