RE: where can i hunt wild, unfenced hogs?

I have been trying the last few years to find 1 of NH's few free roaming wild boars and have had 2 actual sightings in about 10 or so trips. The boars that are in the wild did escape from a large game farm some years back, and from the local police chief who directed us to the areas they had been seen or had complaints about them, the population isn't very large. Saw 1 large boar across a small valley eating old acorns in an oak patch .. and the other sighting was in the swampy edge of a beaver pond, it looked like they were eating cattail roots. I wasn't able to get close enough for a shot both times. If you plan on hunting them in NH .. plan on a lot of effort to see little sign, but they are there. I recommend trying to befriend local police in the areas you intend to hunt .. and have them direct you to where they have been spotted... because I honestly would NEVER have found the areas I hunt without their help. The deputy of the chief who helped us has taken 3 in the last 7 or so years .. 1 of them was a real large boar.
