My Mongoose was not releaseing for me a couple of years ago, but at the time I was using one of those metal loops. As soon as I got rid of the metal loop, which before I did that I used some emry cloth to smooth the jaws of the mongoose and lubed the pivot point, but none of that helped. I went to a string loop and haven't had it catch since then. Bottom line is, my problem had nothing to do with targic panic, although for a while when I was still using the metal loop, I was closing in on some sort of "panic" every time I shot my bow. Lost a lot of confidence for a while. Make sure that there's not a small dent on the calipers of your release that might be "catching" your loop!
