I have had beagles for about 30 years,and all of them have been good hunters. the ones that were the best of all were females.
you can start him or her as soon as you get it,they are never to young to learn.just go slow and be patiance with a pup.
after it is about 4 to 6 mo's. old thy will realy be ready for some real hunting training.
question,why would yor want to have him or her fixed???
once you do that you really have to watch there food,will really get fat.especially if it is a house dog.
once you have that done,you will never have a chance to get offsprings of "your"dog.
