RE: Wingshooting Sport? Or not?
try knocking a 20lb turkey out of the air....they are 10 times harder to kill flying....personally i think shooting them when they are standing there is rather easy......i killed my fall bird out of the sky.....i was pheasant hunting...(well anything that moved and was in season i was shooting it but my main game was pheasant) and it was fall turkey season also...i was busting through a thicket of mature pine trees....there was some weather that day that i thought might have roosted the birds so i was going to the pines.....i heard something take out flying and look around for it.....i look up there it is.......a turkey.......pulled up on it BAM pattern hit it perfect but i didnt even stun it.....BAM the second shot sent it down like a brick.......something about the way everything is aligned when they fly make them alot harder to kill then standing.....ive seen a few guys try to shoot flying ones and nail them perfectly with heavy turkey loads and they dont even act hit........its not a traditional turkey hunting method.....and i felt kinda wrong when i did it......and never thought it had its place.....but it was a blast......and i dont regret it one bit......and the next time one flys im taking it........i dont know about spring.......spring hunting thats not why im out there.....im out there to call them in......but in the fall anythings game........flying running jumping walking standing......
