I think that green, when referring to spending $2000 on a single shot .50cal, was talking about a .50BMG, not .50AE. The .50BMG is a LOT more gun than a .50AE. To the tune of firing a 750 grain bullet at roughly 2800fps. Probably the most powerful rifle shoulder fired rifle you can get. It has over 11,000 (yes, that's eleven thousand) ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle in most loadings. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, although the mandatory high-efficientcy muzzle brakes that all of the .50BMG rifles are equipped with reduce recoil to around that of a 12 gauge magnum slug gun. Still pretty stout.
