Good topic. I think that with QDM on a small property, you would probably exacerbate the problem of your young bucks running off to neighboring properties. The basic premise of QDM is to raise the buck:doe ratio, in part by killing does. Imagine a young buck in rut who wants to get some action, and on one side of the fence (the QDM side), you've got a high buck ratio. On the other side of the fence there are fewer bucks. Which side is a horny young buck going to gravitate to? The side with lower buck ratios, where he can get some action without getting beat up all the time.

I can state that I have observed this effect with young bull elk in wilderness areas in western MT. The wilderness area basically serves as a "QDM" area for elk.
