Quilly's right, Adui13. We have a guy that hunts at our camp from Canada. He uses a 300 win mag with 180gr Fail-Safe's. As long as he hits behind the shoulder, no problem. There's only a hole on each side.

A couple years ago, he hit a nice buck through the front shoulder. I've not seen damage like that in my life. He lost all meat from both front shoulders and the neck.

This year he shot another big buck. He hit it right behind the shoulder. It ran and he shot at it again...hitting it through the pelvis. It damn near split the deer in half at the back end. When we were skinning it, the hind quarters pulled off with the skin. He probably got 3 pounds of meat off the hind quarters. I've got some pics of the damage. If you want, I can e-mail em to ya.

Maybe the Fail-Safe's are ok for deer in a smaller caliber...but from what I've seen, not in the 300 win mag.
