RE: self nocks, reinforced nocks?
In one of my back issues of TBM I saw the dimensions for a jig. It appeared to be a 2x2 block of hardwood with a hole in the center running the length of the block slightly larger than the shafting. You then cut 1/16 inch kerfs running across the bottom on each end and use these slots to place rubber bands, you put your shaft in the hole and strap it in with the rubber bands, then set up a rip fence on you band saw using a piece of plywood and C-clamps. hope this helps if my desc. is not clear email me and I will dig through my old issues and tell you which one or send you a xerox.
