RE: self nocks, reinforced nocks?
I use a Dremel with a 1/8 drill bit. I first cut a slot down the shaft to the depth I want then run the drill bit through at the base of the slot. I like a nock that snaps on the string so I remove enough material then finish with sandpaper. I reinforce all my nocks using a wrap of fine plant fibers. Better to be safe than sorry.
