Default Best Shrub.?

HI-

lets do a little brainstorming....

I'd be curious what you all consider the best Shrub for your area - as considered for whitetail deer? When thinning/clearing/planting I think its very important that we consider shrubs for deer.

Please - everone list one that you are familiar with, and would prefer to have on your hunting property - If possible explain why you have come to your conclusions.

I'll Start -

I would consider Red Osier Dogwood the best shrub in my area - because it grows well on wet, clay soils & low Ph. It offers wonderful Winter browse for deer (not to mention cover for Rabbits and Berries for Grouse). It never exceeds 8ft in height - and can be grown in full sun or partial shade - Finally its Native to my area, and I feel the deer "target" stands of Osier as a proven local favorite.
