Here in Nebr. we can only use 1x power scopes also, put one on my 700 3 years ago. Didn't like it, because it made everything look farther away than it was. In poor light it really sucked. The scope was not a top quality scope, maybe that could have been the problem. Put a Williams peep and a Hy-Vis front on, like that set up a lot better. Can shoot now when it's almost dark. Zeak
