I had a 760 Carbine length .30-06 for many years. It nearly always was in the truck when we lived in Alaska. I kept several magazines along with a box of good 220 grains. I never felt seriously at threat when out moose hunting in big bear country. (If I were going in by ATV with the gun boot the SS Ruger in .338 Win Mag went......but many of my workday morning or evening "hunts of opportunity".....(ie. got a few hours.....a good opportunity for a hunt

).....were made with that 760. It was the "always along" gun!
Great combination.....760 and .30-06!
