I have the same rifle that you plan on getting in 22-250. I reload which is a must for gopher with well over 200 rounds a day.
If you looking for an accurate rifle and caliber to match go with the flatter shooting 22-250 in the Savage.
I consistantly reach out and touch gophers at 500 yards and over on a regular basis.
If you reload give this a try.
52gr Speer hollow points
with 34gr of 4064 IMR
touched off with Federal Gold Medal Match (GM210M) Large rifle primers.
Like with any load work your way up to the 34gr.But 34gr it is not the max load in the book.
When I worked up this load I shot 3 shots the last 2 I thought were flyers till I walked up to the target at 100 yards and noticed they almost went through the same hole. Dont forget some good quality high magnification optics if you plan on reaching out.
