Tried the vertical with my cosmic sight but had trouble seeing the target with the pin getting in the way. Went to horizontal and have no trouble anymore. But with that said, I would probably fair better with the dot. Nothing to get in the way of seeing the target completely except the dot, which should be on the spot you pick to shoot at anyway.
