That is quite a nice two point in your post. What cartridge did you like again?

Hey BUCKMARK, I was just re-reading a Jack O'Connor book and he figured the Savage 99 in .300 sav. with a peer or low power scope was about the best "bush-deer" gun he'd seen. He had owned a short barreled bolt gun in 7mm mauser that he liked for a bush-deer gun as well.

I have never owned one but I think a Win. model 88 or 100 in .308 or .284 with a low variable scope would be a great all-around bush deer sized game gun.

But then the question asked for my "favorite" and that would have to be the gun I've used the most and most often reach for in the morning. My Win model 70 in .264 win. mag. with a variable 3 to 9 scope. I have wacked deer on the run at 40 yards with it and ambushed them as they fed in a grain field at 275 yards.
