Default RE: New Remington model 673

Hi polack,

I picked up a 673 earlier last year in .350 Remington Magnum. I mounted a Leupold Vari-X III, 1.5X5X20, in Leupold's Q.D. bases and rings. (I wanted the small objective lens so I wouldn't need to remove the rear sight from the rib.) Because of some other events in my life I haven't had time to do anything other than sight it in at 100 yards with Remington factory ammo, (old run), 200 grain Core-lokts. I didn't get what I'd call stellar accuracy from it.....(doing things rather in a hurry).....but I ended up with groups sighted approximately 2" high at 100 yards...with 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" groups on average. Like I said though...I was rather in a hurry that day....had the old run ammo (may or may not have been a factor).....and had a chilly, gusty, windy, day. Not trying to make excuses.....just explaining conditions.

I had absolutely no hitches mechanically either on the range that day...or the couple of times I got out to carry it. (Not a good year for hunting...for me because of the other issues.) It was readily portable in the field....nice to not have to worry about wet or weather causing stock warpage.....and I am happy to this point! As things settle down for me personally.....I intend to give it a thorough work out. Sorry I can't give you any more information.

Oh, by the way, recoil though not absent.......was not what I call severe by any stretch! In that regard I was pleasantly surprised! I hope to see how it works out with some of the premium 225's and 250's.

Hope that helps!

Dave
