RE: If a deer attacks you what do you do??
HEY!! Yikes!!
I posted the same thing in the bowhunting forum awhile ago. It happened to me this season. I was stalking a buck through a half arsed grown corn field. I got to about 40 yards or so and he decided I was either looking fine (doe) or he wanted to scrap (buck). Either way it was rather disturbing. Hey grunted and stomped his feet about 4 or 5 times and started heading my way like he was on a mission.
I admit I kind of froze saying to myself what the *&^% am I going to do. Really no shot, he was among the stalks and his head was dead straight on to me. The only shot I could have taken was at his skull. In retrospect that's what I'll do next time. It's strange until you're in that position. The easy thing is to say just shoot him, but it happens too quick and takes you by surprise.
I ended up trotting up a little hill into the hardwoods to get some elevation to possibly get an angle to shoot him. He was one irritated buck!! I ended up acting like a looney like someone else while drawing at the same time. The thing that sucked is I never really had any form of a clean shot, but got to the point where I was about to take ANY shot to give him the hint. The strange thing is on one hand you're still trying to figure out how to kill this buck on the other hand you're saying holy crap is he going to maul me??
Anyway, someone told me the best thing to do aside from killing him is to find a big tree and run around in circles and he won't be able to get you. He'll either think you're retarded and give up or realize he is retarded and come to his senses and take off.
