Arrow Length and Overdraw Questions
I recently realized I may be shooting an arrow that is perhaps 3" longer than necessay and I hope you will help me think through this and validate (or not) my thinking. My draw length is 31". In the old days, I shot a 32" arrow from a recurve and a 15 year old compound. Those bows had arrow rests that did not extend behind the riser. The 32" arrow extended 1" beyond the rest. Now, on my newer bow, I am using a Shakey Hunter rest that extends behind the riser. The same 32" arrow extends forwars of the rest by at lease 3". I had my wife measure from the point where the arrow touched the Shaker Hunter at full draw to the notch in the nock. That measurement was 28". Therefore, it seems to me I could shoot a 29" arrow, with field point, from my newer bow with the Shakey Hunter rest. Does this make sense?
Does the fact the Shakey Hunter extends behind the riser mean their is a built in overdraw?
Thanks for your help.
