Well, I'm not sure what you mean by "an arm and a leg" but I would shy away from the less than $1000 O/U's. The best way to get in that range would be to buy a quality used O/U, otherwise you will be better off with an auto or pump gun. Up to a certain point you are buying durability, a well made O/U will last generations, or several hundred thousand rounds .
