Here in Minnesota the state is divided by farmland and thick woods. Basically where decidious trees meet coniferous trees. This is where the line sits to where shotguns are used in farm country and rifles in the thick woods. It may also be based on the distance between houses residing on adjacent lands but not really sure.

This question came to me to hear that MO permits rifles.
