Default RE: Maine Black Bear

No sweat.

As far as the comment concerning the size of bears taken with William Spencer of Twin Rivers, I can confirm they are true. This last year the largest bear taken was with hounds run by some guys who come up from Carolina each year, it was just shy of 500, not dressed. My buddy shot a 405 lber 3 years back now, and it was 20" er that was the largest bow killed bear in Maine that year. It was a little smaller than a 375 lber taken with a rifle by my buddy's father that same year .. it just had layered on more fat .. and that was the last week of August. The 2 largets taken last year by my friends w/archery equipment were 275 qand 255. Last year the bear did seem to be a little lighter than in years past.

He's in a good area, and last time I checked he charged $700 for the weeks hunt with lodging. He charges more to hound hunt. His lodging is on a nice lake with great smalley fishing.
