Most of the time I will prefer a climbing stand. To me they are much more flexable, you can change your setup easy and often, so the deer have less chance of patterning you!
About the only time I don't like the climbers is when it is really cold, (I live and hunt in a warm weather climate) when You are wearing a lots of clothes it makes climbing harder, and then once you are up there you get really cold because you've sweated!
