TFOX your right when you say mechs are not for every person or every setup! KE is one of the main factor in selecting any kind head fixed or mechinacial.but if someone has done his homework and tested the head he plains to hunt with and also tuned his bow and prctices well before he hunts with it.There is no reason in my opinion that it would not work for him on midsize large game animals! Such as whitetails.But ELKCRAZY8 when you talk about elk and other large game in that size thats a whole nother story.I would definitly shoot fixed blades and pay more attention to the whole setup on what i would be using there is a big deffrence from a whitetail and an elk or moose or maby a big bear! And ARTHUR P! I don`t mean to sound like im steping on any one toe`s but the reason i sead what i did is that i don`t know any one that screws on a broadhead of any type and go`s hunting without testing or prcticing with it first and as far as that go`s any thing else that someone put on there bow that could contribute to making a bad shot.with out testing it first to make sure every thing works as it should. I think we owe that to the game we hunt and to our self as well.but if there are any one that does just screw one a head of some type and heads of into the woods i`ll agree is a foul! But don`t base your test and finding`s on just two or three heads try most of the top brands out today and i`m sure you will find some that work fairly well.But i will agree with you when you say that the rocky.mt heads did not work that well nore did they for me. I tested them when i bought them and did not like them so i never hunted with them. But sence you have talked to the manufacture.maby they can fix them so they open a little better! Way to go! I also reserve the right to be coment on fixed blades as well sence i hunt with them as well and what i have read on this subject is right on target. a good fixed blade tuned well in my opinion can`t be beat! just keep an open mind to mechs if you never hunted with them test other brands and types.and you will see there are some worth giving a second look!
