arkansasbowhunter, I don't know why you think the Vortex came out this year. I have used them 4 years and killed 14 deer with them. I don't know how long they were out before that. The reason I use them is when I started out bowhunting the guy at the pro shop recommended them and I stayed with them. I don't cut down anybody that uses any type of broadhead that they are happy with. I am just stating that I have had good luck with this one. Personally, I feel I have an advantage in that they open up so big and use the energy of the shot cutting instead of going deeper into the ground. With a bigger cut, there is a better chance of cutting vital organs, especially on a not so good shot.
Here is a pic of a doe I shot with one. The wound you see is an entrance wound on a quartering away shot. A very short tracking job.
Two ribs were completely cut through and the ribs outside of those were cut about half way throug. One of the blades was bent, but I straightened it out and used it again. I have had others bent so bad I had to replace them, but that is not a problem as far as I am concerned, they still did the job.
