I'm about to buy a muzzleloader for the first time. My friends that have been smoke pole hunting for awhile suggest I buy the Thompson Center Omega 50 cal.. I have focused on the stainless/ laminate version. I want to buy one and only one and therefore am not afraid to spend the money for a very good one.
Is this gun as great as everyone ( friends, magazines and tv commercials) claim it is?

I understand that muzzleloader season in Wisconsin only allows for a 1x scope. Any suggestions on a very good scope to attach to my Omega?
