Thats a tough call. I like wolves and wouldn't want to break the law but if my family was in jeopardy I'd act quick. Peasonally I contact DNR and if results are slow coming I'd find a way to kill them. Tainted meat will do the job and they probably wont be in the back yard when the finally drop. Thus saving you the trouble of explaining why there are dead wolves out back.

If human safty is the issue, I can't imagine that DNR would not act. If you had to take matters into your own hands I find it tought to belive a jury would convict you for trying to protect your family. That is ludicrous!

Bottom line, Call DNR. If they force you to act, ACT.

As for the last one I would never use poison on anything except for rats.Poison is the most unethical thing I have ever heard of.Please dont ever do that as lots of animals are meat eaters.They dont deserve to die like that.
Please strike my tainted meat comment as it would be unethical. Only use poison on rats because for rats it would be ethical?
I've never heard of a rat eating a dog.
