Cool letter. When reading... one can almost hear the words coming from Bears mouth. I never had the chance to meet him... but he must have been one heck of man. Imagine the stories that guy was capable of telling around a campfire...

Not disputing this letter at all. However, as told to me be Frank Scott [Bear's life-long friend/hunting partner] the letter could be very misleading and useful to anyone using it out of context [so to speak] without seeing the entire picture from Fred Bears viewpoint.

Before Bears' death... he was adamantly against the use of the POD.

According to F. Scott, "Bottom line... people are human and they make mistakes. Fred Bear openly admitted to many that he hastily formed an opinion about the POD but soon thereafter discovered his initial impressions to be incorrect. Before his death, Bear changed his beliefs 180 degrees on issues surrounding the POD."

That conversation took place two [maybe 3?] years ago while on route to teach a bowhunting seminar for the Florida B.O.W. program. If Katina were still around she could testify to the same because she was present at the meeting. In fact, she was the one who introduced me to Frank Scott.

Not trying to start a war... I'm too tired for that...

ArthurP... Fred Bear is STILL [and will always be] my idol. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
