RE: My first duck hunting season
KC wait till you get yourself a lab of some kind then if you're anything like I am you;ll find yourself not caring if anyone else wants to go or not(they're nice to yak with and help haul deks)but with a good dog be it mixed breed or purebred as long as it likes to go and will retrieve it just doesn't get any better than watching a dog do what they love to do. I know for a fact that if my 2 lab crosses weren't there I wouldn't go near as much. I have been right at 40 times so far this year and haven't shot a lot of birds(13 geese 12+ ducks and a couple of pheasants) but don't really care(it's nice to bring home birds but it just doesn't matter) I think I have as much fun watching the kids( as I call them) they'll sit for hours just watching the skies. They do love to fetch and sometimes it looks like a race to see who gets the bird first. A lot of times they tag team them back to me which is kind of cool(not to bad on ducks and geese but sometimes they're a little rough on Pheasants). My season end on the 20 also but here in Washinton in the areas I hunt you only can hunt geese on Sat Sun and Wed and a couple of holidays but the last week is every day so I'll have to take some more leave time cause I'm going to try and make it at least 50 times. Anyway glad to hear you had fun and that there is another rookie that's hooked. I got a bud over in Seattle that got a choc and came over now he's looking at deks and the rest. ENJOY IT THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN SMAKING WEB FEET.
CALL EM IN CLOSE AND SHOOT THEM IN THE EYES
