Default Barrel Browning..........AGAIN!

OK, so I've applied four coats on Birchwood Casey's Plum Brown and I'm not sure I like the few blotches here and there. If I were to go out and get some of that Laurel Mountain cold browning stuff would I be able to simply degrease the barrel and apply this over the B/C finish I already have on?

Also, is the L/M strong enough to prevent me from having to apply a couple coats of B/C to the rest of the metal first before I end with the L/M? I'm thinking I may get slightly different hues, but only if the L/M doesn't completely affect the color and hues I've currently got.

Any hints? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Fritz
