Default RE: Winchester Model 70

Hey Man, the difference between the Pre-64's and the modern Mod.70's is that Pre-64's are push feed design. This means that they have a full length extracter (like the Mausers) and are great for dangerous game as they rarely jam. Most people will argue that the Pre-64's yield a little to Push feed designs (Remington Mod.700, New Winchester Mod.70's, etc) but unless you intend to hunt paper at really long ranges, you wont see the difference. I have a New Mod. 70 (4 years Old)in the 30-06' which I have loaded over 10% over reccomended pressure with absolutely no problems. I have shot factory ammo into 3 shot groups at 150yds that measured .89 inches. needless to say, I don't like it, I LOVE My Winchester.. and I am sure you will too.
