they seem to work for me. doves usually swing by for a closer look when i have decoys set out. this basically brings some birds in range that would normally have flown by too far. i used foam dekes, and i made my own silhouettes out of some thin pieces of wood, painted them 2 shades of grey, and put a little spike on the bottom to stick them in the ground.
