Default RE: New to turkey hunting

First off,Welcome to our flock Idaho As for shells your best bet is to try as many diffrent brands and shot sizes as you can.The only true way to tell which shell will work best is to pattern your gun at diffrent yardages.I'd suggest 20,30 and 40 yds.As for mouth calls again the best one is the one that works best for you and you'll only know that by tryin diffrent brands. You might wanna start out with a call that has 2 thin reeds. It takes some people a long time to master a mouth call so you might also look into gettin yourself a friction call of some type(box, slate, glass, etc.) You don't really need decoys.Sometimes they help but sometimes they hurt you.The main thing about your barrel is that it isn't shiney. The best way to get permission to hunt is to knock on doors, introduce yourself and even offer a day or too helpin the farmers with his chores.Hope this helps ya out a little.Good Luck.
