Savage rifle by chance? The Simmons that I had on my old 22-250 was junk! I took it off and put a tasco 6-24 on it and shot the hell out of it. Liked the scope so much that when I sold the rifle I put the original scope back on it. The Tasco is on the new Savage w/ the accu-trigger. Awesome combo.

As for the question, I'd go with the leupold VX-II. I have on on my .338 that is crystal clear. Held zero under alot of firing b/4 season and did I mention its very clear!
