I placed seal skin on my rest and a thin piece of leather covers the strike plate. I didn't want anything thicker because my arrows are almost on the stiff side already. For a string material, I'd contact our favorite string maker here and get a couple of his DF97 flemish strings. They are the tops as far as I'm concerned. As far as arrows go, wait on them until you have the string you'll be using and your true weight at your draw figured out. Then when you're ready, order up some tuning arrows in different spine groups like 55-60, 60-65, 65-70 and so on depending on the weight of the bow and the length of arrow you'll need.
