Speaking from experience, I wouldn't shoot it in the head. Sometimes when you head shoot them the entire body tightens up for a minute after the shot which means the muscles that cause the spray to go any distance will tighten. I've found that a well placed .22 bullet down between the shoulder blades and dead center will cut off any nerve control to the rear portion of the animal, with minimal scent leakage! Good Luck!
