Can't speak to what the oxpho stuff says, but heres what I did on the above gun. First, I dis-assembled the entire gun. I then took Fume free easy off max oven cleaner and coated everything. Metal, barrel, wood, I let it set and wiped it off. I then repeated until all the metal was bare. The Wood cleaned up extremely well with this as well. It took a few coats, but it worked. I then followed the directions TO THE LETTER. Cleaned with Blue Wonder Cleaner (an excellent product in it's own) And proceeded to blue it. I used a heat gun as per the directions!
